Trace Heating - Pipe Guard is a product designed to prevent pipes icing up and is paticularly suited to being placed on the outside of water pipes prior to lagging. The cable is run in a length along the outside of the pipe to b heated, or can if required be spiralled around the pipe. It is quick to install and has an integrated thermostat to ensure the system is only energised when the pipe's temperature falls to a low level. The cable is IPX7 rated, uv resistant and can be attached to a pipe with zip ties.The cable is rated at 13watts per metre and as the system automatically de-energises when temperatues rise it is economical to run, and on average costs approx 0.50p per metre a year to operate. The system can be turned off during the summer if required, however there is no need to do this. The cable will be supplied without a plug and should be attached to a power supply protected by an RCD.
