GU10 vs MR16 — Which Do I Need?

GU10 lamps run on mains voltage (240V) and have two short, stubby twist-lock pins. MR16 lamps run on 12V and have two thin straight pins — they require a transformer or LED driver. If your existing fitting has a twist-and-lock mechanism, you need a GU10. If the pins are straight and thin, you need an MR16. When in doubt, check the existing lamp for the cap type printed on the base.
